Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a natural, non-invasive, drug-free approach to health care.

Chiropractors care for patients with health problems of the neuromusculoskeletal system, which includes nerves, bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. We use spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients' health concerns.

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism, controlled by the brain, spinal cord and nerves of the body. The vertebrae of your spine protect your nervous system and should be in proper alignment with proper motion.  When the vertebrae are misaligned and loss of normal motion occurs, this causes malfunction of the tissues and organs throughout the body.

The role of a chiropractic adjustment is to support the body’s innate intelligence and remove interferences (misalignments) in the spine and other joints in the body, allowing the body to self-regulate and self-heal.

The goal of chiropractic adjustments is always to restore homeostasis, or balance to the body, not to relive symptoms or treat disease. When interferences to the nervous system are removed, homeostasis occurs. Human beings are innately designed to be in balance. We use several techniques in our practice to best suit the patient, so if you are someone who is unsure or apprehensive about chiropractic adjustments, we can always achieve the same goal utilizing these other techniques.

Spinal Decompression

Severe back pain is not just unpleasant—it can be debilitating, preventing you from performing your daily routine and even confining you to bed for days. In decades past, patients suffering from spinal issues were often given incapacitating pain medication, told to avoid physical activity, referred for physical therapy, and when they did not heal, they often underwent spinal surgery. Luckily, there are now drug-free, noninvasive treatments for severe back pain. Among these options are spinal decompression techniques. Spinal decompression uses advanced technology to apply a “distraction force” in order to relieve nerve compression often associated with low back pain and sciatica.

Spinal decompression gently separates the vertebrae from each other creating a “vacuum” like effect to the discs that we are targeting. This “vacuum effect” is negative intra-discal pressure that will reduce and retract a herniated disc or bulging disc, taking pressure off the nerve root. This happens microscopically each time, but cumulatively, over four to six weeks.

If you are living in pain from a herniated or bulging disc, we will work with you to find a spinal decompression treatment plan that corresponds with your body. Instead of turning to dangerous pain medications that just cover up the problem, ask us if spinal decompression can help you.

Premier Spine Center is the only chiropractic office in Erie/Niagara County specializing in Chiropractic BioPhysics!

Chiropractic BioPhysics is a highly-advanced, scientific, and proven chiropractic technique which corrects and restores your spine back to alignment, and alleviates pain and discomfort from its source.

Chiropractic BioPhysics combines biology, physiology, physics, geometry, and anatomy to identify the causes of your pain, discomfort, loss of mobility, and altered health. That means your diagnosis – and treatment – will be based on sound scientific and chiropractic principles.

What to Expect from a CBP Chiropractor?

Dr. Riham Alnaji starts with a scientifically-based examination of your posture, spinal alignment, and function – often involving x-rays as a way to pinpoint the root cause of your spinal misalignment. Once the source is identified, your doctor will create a carefully planned series of adjustments, exercises, and a spinal remodeling program to put you on a pain-free road to better health.

How is CBP Different from Other Techniques?

Unlike regular chiropractic that mainly focus on immediate pain relief, Chiropractic BioPhysics goes one step further to also correct the source of the problem. That’s why most patients under the care of a CBP chiropractor not only report relief from pain and discomfort, but as their posture begins to align, they notice other conditions clearing up as well.

We have helped our patients with:

  • Spinal Root Impingement

  • Hypomobility

  • Degenerative Joint Disease

  • Facet Syndrome

  • Compressions Fracture

  • Joint Pain

  • Discogenic Pain

  • Protruding Discs

  • Bulging Discs

  • Herniated Discs

  • Degenerative Disc Disease

  • Posterior Facet Syndrome

  • Acute Facet Problems

  • Radicular Pain

  • Prolapsed Discs

Spinal Alignment

Correct posture is at the core of the Chiropractic BioPhysics method of treatment. The curves in your spine act as levers, shock absorbers, and resistance to gravity; they also protect and reduce forces acting on the spinal cord and nerve tissues. But, gravity, age, poor posture, improper physical activity, injury, and disease can all play a role in the misalignment of your spinal curves and, as a result, your entire body. CBP can help restore that balance.

Following a scientific analysis of your posture and the curvature of your spine, a treatment plan is developed, based on your deficits, to restore proper alignment, relieve pain, and improve function.

Your treatment plan may include a variety of tested and proven CBP techniques, including adjustment, exercise, and traction or what is termed ‘Spinal Remodeling’.

Postural Correction

At Premier Spine Center, we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan.

In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and prescription orthotics from our experienced chiropractor will alleviate your pain while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

ROCK TAPE
vvvvv.jpg

RockTape is a special kind of tape known as kinesiology tape. First used by acupuncturists and chiropractors in Japan, today kinesiology tape is used by practitioners throughout the world to treat injuries and improve sports performance.

While the use of kinesiology is often associated with athletes such as Serena Williams, Kerri Walsh and Lance Armstrong, the reality is that RockTape is effective for the treatment of a wide variety of problems, not just sports injuries.

What is RockTape used for?

  • Achilles tendonitis

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Jumpers knee (PFS)

  • ACL/MCL issues

  • Rotator cuff

  • Groin and hamstring pulls

  • Lower back issues

  • Shin splints

  • Tennis and golf elbow

  • Pain associated with pregnancy

  • Postural correction

Improving Sports Performance

While we can’t turn a 5-hour marathoner into a 3-hour runner, we do have methods to help you break the 3-hour barrier if you’re already close. When applied properly, RockTape can help athletes improve form and decrease fatigue through better blood flow. These are the two most critical aspects of increasing performance in almost any sport.

How does RockTape work?

RockTape has a special weave of the fabric so it stretches in one direction and not the other. This creates a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism that lifts the skin away from the soft tissue underneath, which allows more blood to move into an injured area to accelerate healing and recovery.

What is RockTape made of?

RockTape is a natural-hybrid product and consists of 97% cotton, 3% nylon and uses no drugs. The adhesive is a hypo-allergenic acrylic based adhesive and contains no latex.

Massage

When chiropractic care is used in conjunction with massage therapy, both treatments work together to create a harmonious effect, resulting in a much faster recovery time for the patient. When the body becomes more relaxed through massage, it allows the doctor to smoothly realign various parts of it.

Massage has been proven to assist in mending of a large number of conditions including:

  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction

  • Disc issues

  • Pinched nerves

  • Joint pain

  • Headaches

  • Back pain

  • Postoperative care

  • Sleep disorders

  • High blood pressure

  • Diabetes

Chiropractic care is an excellent method for improving overall health and musculoskeletal efficiency, while massage has a number of beneficial effects on the body and the mind. Massage additionally benefits patients with muscle spasms and soft tissue injuries.

Restoring Your Health
AdobeStock_97538968.jpeg

Your spine houses your nervous system – the most delicate and important organ system – responsible for your day-to-day bodily functions. From your immune, cardiovascular, and digestive system, to sexual function and mobility – your nerves are responsible for sending vital information and energy from the brain to your organs through your spine.

Just as a kink in a garden hose can dramatically reduce the flow of water coming from the tap – a spine out of alignment dramatically reduces vital information going from your brain to vital organs. Thus, your organs are much more susceptible to malfunction and disease.

It’s not just coincidence that people most with poor posture tend to lack energy and suffer from fatigue, experience random aches and pains, as well as suffer from headaches / migraines, allergies, ear infection, sleeping disorders, gastrointestinal issues (such as GERD), asthma, high blood pressure, etc.

As a CBP patient, you will notice not only a dramatic decrease in pain in discomfort, but more importantly a sense of restored health and energy.

Interferential Electrotherapy
AdobeStock_322037347.jpeg

Electrical stimulation uses an electrical current to cause a single muscle or a group of muscles to contract by placing electrodes on the skin. The results of the electrical impulses are decreased muscle tightness, pain and swelling and at the same time causing an increase in the capacity of the injured tissue to heal by increasing blood flow. The current can be altered allowing this modality to activate muscles so as to strengthen the targeted tissue.

Hot/Cold Therapy

Hot and cold therapy have been known to help relieve pain, reduce muscle spasms, and decrease inflammation. These therapies can be used by themselves or in conjunction with other therapies in the clinic to best suit the needs for the specific symptom that our patients present with.

Spinal & Postural Screenings

Therapeutic Exercise
AdobeStock_232444571.jpeg

Therapeutic exercises are specific exercises meant for correcting specific problems. Depending the matter of your concern, you may be given a list of exercises to perform to reduce discomfort. The focus of therapeutic exercise is to regain flexibility, strength, and endurance related to specific physical problems.

Therapeutic exercise aims to improve, restore, and prevent loss of physical function. It can also improve a patient’s overall health, fitness, and sense of well-being.

Additional objectives of therapeutic exercise include:

  • Improving respiratory capacity

  • Improving coordination

  • Reducing rigidity

  • Improving balance

  • Increasing mobility

  • Releasing contracted muscles, tendons, and fascia

  • Mobilizing joints

  • Improving circulation

Therapeutic exercises are classified into three major categories:

  • Endurance training

  • Resistance training

  • Flexibility training

No matter what type of exercise is prescribed to remedy a patient’s specific condition, the final goal of rehabilitation is to acquire a maximum level of physical fitness, without the use of more invasive methods. Therapeutic exercise can be performed at home, and gives you the power to improve your quality of life.
